The BMW’s M-series will see the latest addition to its fourth generation of SUVs and is likely to be the new 2017 BMW X5 M. This car is already seen testing its engine near the BMW factories and may make its debut come winter in the European market. With a price tag of around $100,000, this SUV may go up against the likes of Range Rover Supercharged and Mercedes-AMG GLS63.
2017 BMW X5 M – Exterior Redesign and Interior look
The 2017 BMW X5 M is speculated to be built on BMW’s new Collection-Style rear-wheel (CLAR) platform. The front fascia may see upgrades in the form of a new bumper and sharper headlights. BMW exclusive kidney shaped front grilles will remain intact. The nose of this SUV may have dipped a little giving its driver a better view of the road ahead.
Wheels will sport an aluminum frame and will be of 21 inches. This will give better surface grip and will maintain vehicle stability on rugged tracks. Expect LED fittings on both its front and rear lights. Also, a new set of indicator lights can be housed on its side mirrors.
The car will have a wheelbase dimension of 115.5 inches while its overall length is expected to be around 192.1 inches. Height will be set at 69.1 inches while its width will be maintained at 65.6 inches. Ground clearance will be around 8.1 inches. All this will allow the passenger to access an interior cabin space of 35.8 cubic feet with rear seats in place while a massive 76.7 cubic feet will be available with seats folded.
Expect bucket seats which may be 8-way power adjustable. The heating feature will be available both on seats and steering wheels. The dashboard may house an improved infotainment with a larger display and a 9-speaker audio system. The steering wheel will be telescopic with power tilt features.
2017 BMW X5 M – Modification under the Hood
The BMW X5 series is all about power, and 2017 BMW X5 M will be no different. It will retain the 4.4-liter V8 engine with the twin-scroll turbocharging system and variable valve timings. This will be capable of generating a power output of 567 hp while its torque output will stand at 553 lb-ft. A similar powertrain is put under the hood of BMW X6 as well.
This will make the BMW X5 M 2017 reach a top speed of 160 mph. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph will take place in less than 3.8 seconds. These figures are definitely impressive judging by the size of this SUV. EPA ratings are on the lower side owing to its bulkiness. It stands at 14 mpg in city and 19 mpg on the highway.
2017 BMW X5 M – Technical Installations
The 2017 BMW X5 M will have power Liftgate and tailgate access facilities. Also, an internal temperature control sensor will keep the cabin temperature in check. In addition to these, BMW may install the following to enhance the SUV’s safety.
- Adaptive Cruise control with the electronic braking system.
- Rear view cameras with park assist features.
- Side cameras to enable blind spot monitoring.

The 2017 BMW X5 M will also have a DSC-X electronic stability control and roll control features. The tire pressure monitoring system will be installed with sync to its infotainment display.
