The SUV saw its launch in Thailand last year and now the 2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport is in serious consideration to be launched in the UK. This news can be confirmed as this model has been spotted at the Twickenham Stadium.
Several photographs of this SUV has been sourced out and according to it, there’s a ‘Shogun Sport’ written on the registration plate while the tailgate nameplate holds ‘Pajero Sport.’
As to changes, improvements are for sure. Several sources have been saying that this 2017 variant will be based on a different platform to make improvements in fuel efficiency.
2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport – Exterior body and Interior cabin
The UK saw the previous generation of Mitsubishi Shogun Sport in 2006 and then the model was discontinued. The Mitsubishi is likely to increase their annual sales by 10-15% with the introduction of 2017 Shogun Sport.
In terms of design, the new variant which has been spotted as 2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport looks interesting. Although most of the design cues are borrowed from the previous model, several changes have been brought.
The section housing the headlights seems to have been slightly changed. The grille looks similar to its design. The front bumper appears to be refined and a skid plate underneath it can be spotted right away. The approach to front fenders and windshield is still the same.
In its rear fascia, a short spoiler has been added which might be to complement its adventure prowess. The rest of rear fascia is pretty much similar.
The information regarding its interior cabin hasn’t been sourced out, but an all new design has been expected. This also means that the upholstery materials will get a bump in quality. The interior cabin should most importantly be concerned with space which is likely to be increased.
But it’s even highly possible that the company will feature the previous layout with upgrades in controls and accessories. All in all, this new 2017 Shogun Sport will definitely be worth checking out.
2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport – Modifications in the Engine
Internationally, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (or Mitsubishi Montero Sport) comes in several engine options which include a 3.0-liter gasoline engine. That produces 206.43 hp, a 2.4-liter 178.28 hp diesel and a 2.5-liter 134.05 hp diesel engine.
The transmission options offered are 8-speed automatic, 6-speed manual and a 5 speed automatic. However, in the UK, the 2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport could sport a 2.4-liter diesel engine capable of producing 178.28 hp and subsequent amount of torque. The engine will be paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission along with a Super Select 4WD II all-wheel drive system.
2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport – Price and Release Date
Several reports have confirmed that 2017 Mitsubishi Shogun Sport will be priced between Shogun and Outlander which should put its price between £26,000 ($31,694) and £28,000 ($34,132). Lance Bradley has also said that this Mitsubishi Shogun Sport 2017 will be launched in the UK ahead of 2017 which hints last quarters of 2016.
