The 2018 Kia Sportage crossover SUV promises to fulfill the expectations of fans and newcomers alike. As with previous models, it combines the practicality and athletic styling of a sport-utility vehicle, with the comforts and handling of a passenger car. At this stage, not too much is known about the new model, but it seems that Kia has gone the conservative route, and no major changes are anticipated. Fans can still look forward to the same sharp style, safety, comfort and technological features that they have come to love about Kia.
2018 Kia Sportage – Exterior and Interior Design
There appears to be a definite focus on improving aesthetics for this latest model, with some small changes that will ensure that the Sportage is a better overall package.
The biggest changes from previous models can be found on the front of the Kia. It boasts a larger tiger nose grille, wraparound headlights, and prominent fog lights. LED taillights also attest to the slightly more aggressive design concept, which is more like the other vehicles in Kia’s lineup.
Not much is known about the interior at this stage, but one can expect the 2018 Sportage to come with a fully redesigned interior and dashboard, while still retaining the elegant and tasteful style that Kia is known for. The interior features like touch screen, infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be available. Active safety features, such as automated emergency braking, lane departure warnings, rear cross traffic alerts and bi-xenon high-intensity discharge headlights, will also be carried over from the 2017 model.
2018 Kia Sportage – Engine and Performance
Powertrains, which are currently used for this 2018 Kia Sportage, are going to be tuned rather than redesigned. While the details have not yet been confirmed, the new Sportage is expected to contain an improved 136 hp 1.6-liter CRDi under the hood, or alternatively, a 190 hp 2.0-liter diesel option. An entry-level SUV will most likely come with a 1.2-liter petrol unit, while at the top of the range one can expect a 2.0-liter T-GDI gasoline powertrain with 250 hp. A 7-speed dual clutch transmission will be carried over to the 2018 model.
While previous models have scored lower when it comes to fuel economy, especially when outfitted with the up-level turbocharged engine, it is unknown if the Kia Sportage 2018 will address this issue.
2018 Kia Sportage – Price and Release Date
While the exact date has not yet been announced, the 2018 Kia Sportage is scheduled for unveiling in the second half of 2017, by September at the very latest. Pricing has not yet been confirmed either, although the entry level price is expected to be similar to vehicles currently available in showrooms, between $23 000 and $25 000.
It’s going to be a long wait, but surely worthwhile. This Korean manufactured beauty is expected to be the most attractive of all the models in this line to date. The 2018 Kia Sportage will combine safety, technology, and style in what is sure to be a favorite among car lovers everywhere. If you are a car lover, this could be the greatest fun you have ever had. You will like the safety in driving your family too.
