One of Toyota’s most popular mid-size SUV; the RAV4, is getting a new and improved model. The 2018 Toyota RAV4 will have some huge changes and improvements. The last model came out in 2013 and wasn’t very good for off-road driving but this new model can drive through any terrain. It offers ample cargo space and an improved towing capacity, Toyota are also going to introduce a new engine for this model that consumes less fuel and outputs more power than its predecessor. This car is targeting urban families that enjoy travelling together and its release is being anticipated all over the world.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – Exterior and Interior Design
The exterior of the 4 door 2018 Toyota RAV4 has a different styling which is bold, elegant and aggressive. The front fascia has a redesigned grille and a masculine bumper that gives this SUV character. The chassis is lighter and consists of aluminum and carbon fiber set on a steel frame. Diamond shaped LED headlights and daytime driving lights flank the small grille. A big air vent separated into two by the bumper and fog lights complete the stylish front design in this car. The sides are indented inwards and have restyled fenders while the roofline gently slopes backwards with a roof rack installed to carry extra cargo. At the rear, LED tail lights, a spoiler, a trunk door that opens upwards and a rear view camera have been installed. Standard wheels will be 20 inch alloys with a wide wheelbase ensuring better road clearance for smooth off-road driving.
On the inside, the 2018 Toyota RAV4’s cabin is spacious and has been redesigned to make it more luxurious. Wood, leather, aluminum, quality fabric and soft plastic have been used to enhance aesthetics of the interior. The dashboard has been de-cluttered and every button and knob is within reach of the driver. A high-definition display sits at the middle of the dashboard for infotainment and satellite navigation. Bluetooth, USB ports, CD player and an automatic dual zone climate control will be offered as standard features. Safety has also been enhanced in the 2018 Toyota RAV4; Toyota is yet to confirm the features that will be included but they will be better than those in its 2013 predecessor.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – Engine and Performance
The 2018 Toyota RAV4 will have more than one engine option: the US market will get a 2.0 inline 4 engines that outputs 235 hp at 5600 rpm and 258 pound feet of torque at 4000 rpm. This engine will be mated with an eight speed automatic or a six speed manual transmission gearbox depending on customer preference. Due to the decreased weight of the Toyota RAV4 2018, improved suspension, a new air to liquid intercooler and a revamped exhaust system; fuel efficiency is expected to be more than 15% higher in this mid-size SUV. The second drive-train option is a 1.5-liter engine that produces about 180 hp and has the same transmission option as the US variant. This option will mostly be sold in Europe and Asia where there are stricter policies on carbon emissions.
2018 Toyota RAV4 – Price and Release Date
No specific price has been set yet for the 2018 Toyota RAV4 yet; however, prices are expected to range between $30,000 and $35,000 depending on engine option and additional interior installations. This 2018 RAV4 will be in showrooms in early 2017 with sales expected to be high due to the popularity of this Toyota SUV.
