Volkswagen has not been left behind when it comes to hybrid vehicles. The Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Active Concept is one of the latest models in the market. It has a unique combination when it comes to the electric motor and conventional engine. It has two different electric motors that power the rear and front wheels independently. Under ordinary driving conditions, the rear wheels are the only ones driven. However, when it is necessary, it is easy to activate both the rear and front wheels. This can happen for instance if you are on the road for a longer period of time or if the road is slippery or a bit more demanding. The GTE Concept has a 148 horsepower, turbocharged engine which is gasoline fed. This provides extra power for the front wheels through an automatic transmission of a six speed dual clutch. Their front motor can also work as a generator which can be used to charge the car’s batteries. If you do not want to use the electric motor you can opt for the gasoline engine which can as well power the front wheels on its own. The VW has a 12.4 k WH lithium-ion battery placed at the rear on the floor of the luggage compartment. The battery can be charged using the petrol engine.
